Albert “Al” Bennett, age 81, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Al was born Sunday, May 5, 1940 in Portland, Maine to the late Albert James Bennett, Sr. and Florence Mann Bennett. He worked for the Rutherfordton Township in the Maintenance Department for several years and later become the Greenskeeper for Cleghorn Golf Course for fifteen years. He was a faithful member of the Restoration Church where he was involved with the outreach and nursing home ministry. He enjoyed building model cars, doing yard work and the outdoors. He was also a coloring book enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-eight years, Ethel Seay Bennett.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Deborah Miller of Forest City, Lois Hobbs of Forest City and Hazel Wyatt (Bill) of Simpsonville, SC; sons, James Bolyard (Chrystal) of Forest City, Dwayne Bolyard of Bostic and Leo Bolyard, Jr. (Kathy) of Forest City. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brian Vibbert, Jamie Packett, Brandon Bolyard, Samantha Bolyard, Jennifer Griffin and Brenna Wyatt; seven great-grandchildren, Gracie, Gabriel, Riley, Oaklynn, Keaton, Kolton and Konner.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at the Restoration Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
