Allen Padgett

Allen J. Padgett, age 74, of Forest City, NC, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Allen was born February 17, 1938 in Rutherford County, NC to the late John B. Padgett and Georgia V. Powell Padgett. Allen worked for Cone Mills for 24 years before retiring and enjoyed gardening and especially sharing the produce with others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Morris Padgett, Wayne Padgett and Jerry Padgett.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marie Padgett; one son, Willie Padgett and wife, Lori of Caroleen; one granddaughter, Allison Padgett of Georgia; three step-grandsons, Joey Boone, Zach McDaniels and Bailey McDaniels all of Forest City. He is also survived by two sisters, Jean Ervin of Forest City and Joan Splawn of Chesnee, SC and one brother, Timmy Padgett of Forest City.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in the Caroleen-Avondale-Henrietta Cemetery with Reverend Mike Cash officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service. The body will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. until service time on the day of the service.
