Amanda Q. Vargas, age 48, of Gastonia, NC, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Caro Mont Medical Center in Gastonia.
Born June 27, 1967 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny Biggerstaff Quinn and Mary Ann McKnight Quinn. Amanda was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1985 and also attended Isothermal Community College. She worked as the After School Director for Forest City Elementary and as a Day Care Instructor for the Little Red School for several years. Amanda was a member of Caroleen Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking with her husband, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She had the biggest heart of love for others and never thought of herself. Amanda's compassion and care for others brightened the world. She will truly be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Sergio Vargas; brother, Johnny Earl Quinn and his significant other, Angie Bostic of Marlinton, West Virginia; two sisters, Rhonda Morrison and husband, Pete of Green Hill and Kathy Frasier and husband, Eric of Forest City. She is also survived by five nephews, Casey Quinn, Johnathan Quinn, Jesse Bostic, Teagan Frasier and Toryn Frasier; four nieces, Amber Calhoun, Haley Lewis, Lauren Waters, Kristen Ferguson and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Caroleen Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Qualls officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
