Amita Burgess Dobbins, age 42, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her residence.
She was born on October 19, 1972 in Rutherford County and was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1991. Amita worked for the Medicine Box in Forest City and for Morganton Eye Clinic in Shelby for several years. She was a member of Walls Baptist Church and an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan. Amita loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Calvin and Flo Burgess; great-grandmothers, Grannie Moore, Ella Mae Holtsclaw and aunt, Trudy Morrow Locklear.
Survivors include her husband, Brian Dobbins; mother, Debra Blanton and husband, Joe of Ellenboro; father, Larry Burgess and wife, Donna of Ellenboro; son, Dustin Smith and wife, Faith of Elizabethton, TN; daughter, Brooklyn Smith of Ellenboro; her first grandchild who is due in November, Holden Lee Smith; three brothers, Jeffrey Michael Burgess and wife, Sherry of Ellenboro, Charles Calvin Michael Burgess and wife, Ashley of Rutherfordton and Jeremy Lee Gipson and wife, Shannon of Bostic; sister, Heather Toms and husband, Virgil of Sandy Mush; grandmothers, Della Moore, MawMaw Cook both of Ellenboro and Betty Blanton of Cliffside; Uncle, Eddie Burgess and wife, Connie of Ellenboro; in-laws, Roger and Virginia Dobbins of Ellenboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at three o'clock on Saturday, July18, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Marshall Dill and Reverend Paul Toney officiating. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
