Arthur Hicks

Arthur H. Hicks, Jr., age 85, of Bostic, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born July 1, 1929 in Greenville County, SC, he was a son of the late Arthur Hicks, Sr. and Vestina Hicks Jennings. He was an Army-Air Force veteran having served during the Post World War II era and during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Harris High School and a graduate of Howard Business College. Arthur worked for Fieldcrest Mills for thirty-two years and J.C. Cowan for five years before his retirement. He was a faithful member of Pleasant View Community Church and enjoyed bowling, golfing, camping and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Estelle Fite and Mary Holiday.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost sixty-two years, Betty Lucille Harris Hicks; two daughters, Linda Sims and husband, Tommy of Rutherfordton and Karen Hall and husband, Rodger of Bostic; one son, Donald Hicks and fiancé, Michelle of Ellenboro. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jamie Sims (Kara), Chris Sims (Shannon), Melissa Hamrick (Russell), Michelle Seagle (Manuel), Tracy Griffin (Dennis), Dereck Hall (Mila), Doug Stamper, Jordan Peirce and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at two o'clock on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Pleasant View Community Church with Reverend Danny McCain and Reverend Jerry Vess officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from noon until two o'clock at the church prior to the service.
