Red was born Tuesday, June 2, 1936 in Rutherford County to the late Theodore Bill Lovelace and Alice Nora Pruitt Lovelace. She worked in textiles for over thirty-three years before retirement. Red was a longtime member of High Shoal Baptist Church. She served as the director of the senior citizens’ group, as a faithful choir member and was dedicated to several other ministries. Red’s special gift to others was her canning, candy making and the delicious food she cooked which was sprinkled with love. She had a heart to reach out to others and to share God’s love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Thompson; sisters, Martha Jane Campfield and Vonnie Frazier; brothers, James, Floyd, Goober, and Franklin Lovelace.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved daughters, Tammy Stacy (Todd) and Teresa Thompson all of Ellenboro and her loving son, Mike Thompson (Wanda) of Landrum, SC. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 15th at High Shoal Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Adkins and Reverend George Whitmire officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, February 16th at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
