Audrey Street Champion, age 87, of Forest City, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at her residence.
Born on Friday, August 9, 1929 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Erwin Allen and Virginia McDaniel Allen. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1947 and a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Working most of her life in the textile industry, Audrey began her career at the age of sixteen. She worked for the Henrietta Mill for many years and then later retired from Doran Textiles after thirty-six years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, L.B. Street and Buford Champion; son, Randy Street; brother, Gary Allen; sister, Betty Allen Moncrief and niece, Tracy Allen.
Survivors include two sisters, Louise Allen Wyatt of Forest City and Rachel Allen Lyons of Mooresville; two sister-in-laws, Martha Street Bailey and Diane Street both of Shelby. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend David Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Gantt's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior service time at the funeral home.
