Avery King, age 69, of Forest City, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born September 10, 1947 in Buncombe County, he was a son to the late Troy King and Mabel McMahan King. Avery's life's work was brick masonry and he also worked as a truck driver for several years. He was of the Baptist faith. Avery was a private man who poured himself into his craft of masonry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Rhonda McConnell and husband, Frank of Stanley, NC; three sons, Jesse King of Chesnee, Clay King and Avery King, Jr. both of Forest City; two brothers, Weldon King and wife, Brenda of Maiden, NC and Vinson King and wife, Marie of Forest City; one sister, Ruth Owenby and husband, Jake of Candler, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Beckie Proffitt, David Norton, Harley King and Kinley King; two great-grandchildren, A.J. Claitt and Taylor Morris.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Vinson King officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
