Barbara Bridges

Barbara Hensley Bridges, age 82, of Bostic, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her residence.

Barbara was born Thursday, October 5, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Bunion Dee Hensley and Queen Esther Mace Hensley. She worked for PPG Industries and the Azdel Corporation for thirty-seven years in quality control before retirement. Barbara had the heart of a caregiver and took care of her family with a special love. She was a caring and giving person to others and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bostic.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, James David Bridges; daughter, Sherry Lynn Hammett; brothers, Charles Jack Hensley and J.D. Hensley and a sister, Mossie Sue Baynard.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Cathy Bridges Tuman (Richard) and Kim Farrer (Ronnie Morrow) all of Bostic; two sisters, Bardee Champion of Forest City and Carolyn Lawson (Charles) of Ellenboro; seven grandchildren, Paige Jernigan, Drew Jones, Katie Jones, Shane Shires, Matthew Self, Leslie Wall, Lisa Yancey and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with her son-in-law, Richard E. Tuman, officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.
