Barbara C. Lavender

Barbara C. Lavender, age 84, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at her son’s house, encircled by the love of her family.

Barbara was born Saturday, June 24, 1939 in Catawba County, NC to the late John William Carswell and Ethel Bright Carswell. She was a graduate of Hildebran High School, class of 1957. Barbara worked as a seamstress for various rug and clothing manufacturing companies for most her life. She enjoyed coloring, painting, working on puzzle books, doing yardwork and sitting on the porch, “watching the world go by” with her late husband, Brint. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Clarence “Brint” Lavender; brother, Harold Carswell and sister, Judy Bailey.

Those left to treasure her memory include her son, Dale Lavender and wife, Donna of Shelby; brother, Ed Carswell and wife, Amy of Shelby; sister, Janice Turner of Cliffside and four grandchildren.

 A private family gathering will take place to honor Barbara’s life.
