Bernice Hewitt

Bernice Virginia Hewitt, age 87, of Forest City passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at Rutherford Hospital following an extended illness. Bernice was born May 12, 1919 in Forest City to the late Ed Chapman and Adeline Johnson Chapman. She was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and longtime member of Henrietta First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hewitt on June 21, 2000 after 64 years of marriage. She enjoyed cooking for others and always had candy to give to visitors.

She is survived by her three sons, Lamar Hewitt and his wife Linda of Bostic, Jimmy Hewitt and his wife Carolyn of Henrietta, and Mickey Hewitt and his wife Peggy of Forest City; two sisters, Mary Wood of Forest City, and Jackie Youells, of Baltimore, MD; five grandchildren, Ricky Humphries, Kim Harris, Jean Arrowood, Robbie Hewitt, and Angie Moss. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
