Betty Linder, age 80, of Cleghorn Mill Road, Rutherfordton, NC, entered into the presence of her Savior on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born November 2, 1936 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Guy Wallace and Effie Smith Wallace. She was a registered nurse and worked for Rutherford Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Hospital a total of thirty years before retirement. Betty was a co-founder and first president of Harris-Shiloh Little League Baseball and a charter member of the "Remember Me Ministries." She enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music and was an avid reader. Taking care of and spending time with her family was the passion of her life and she loved the Lord with all of her heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-one years, Herbert Linder and a granddaughter, Betsy Ponton.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, John Linder and wife, Heather of Winchester, Virginia; Kenneth Linder and wife, Angie of the Shiloh Community and David Linder and wife, Laura of Forest City; three brothers, David Wallace and wife, Joyce of Harris, Lewis Wallace of Rutherfordton and John Wallace and wife, Sandra of Union Mills. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with her sons and Reverend Shane Jackson officiating. A private entombment will follow at the Eternal Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at the home on Cleghorn Mill Road.
