Betty Roper

    Betty Roper, age 88, passed away, Thursday, September 14, 2023 at her residence.

     Betty was born Wednesday, January 30, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Robert Hyden Wright and Delores Kiser Wright. She worked for Louise Hawkins Daycare in Rutherfordton for seventeen years and was a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Betty spent most of her time chasing her pet dog, Otis.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Ralph Roper; brother, Gerald Wright and sisters, Martha Cash and Janette Wallace.

     Those left to treasure her memory include her loving son, Randy Roper (Brenda) of Rutherfordton; sister, Sandra Brigman of Rutherfordton; brother, Norris Wright (Sherry) of Forest City; grandson, Justin Roper (Brandy) of Spindale; step grandchildren, Leon Bowen, Jr. and Pam Carver; great grandchildren, Caleb Bowen, Caitlyn Bowen, Christy Yarbrough, Josh Carver, and Todd Carver; four great great grandchildren; and her best friend Cory Wright. She is also survived by her beloved pet, Otis.

     A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 19^th at the Mountain Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Brian Blanchette and Reverend Phillip Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
