Betty Upton

Betty Quinn Upton, age 85, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at her residence.

Betty was born January 13, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Claude Lee Quinn and Hassie Radford Quinn. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1953 and worked for Cone Mills-Avondale Plant for thirty years before retirement. She was a faithful member of the Caroleen United Methodist Church. Betty’s greatest joy was taking care of her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, L.D. Upton and a brother, Lee Quinn.

Those left to cherish her memories include her two daughters, Star Coffey (Michael) of Forest City and Pam Waters (Mark) of Shiloh; son, Bobby Upton of Spindale; brother, Buck Quinn (Gail) of Ellenboro; six grandchildren, Janet Champion, Alicia Ramsey, Kenneth Upton, Brian Upton, Kyle Waters, Kayla Garrett (Daniel); nine great-grandchildren, Xavier Champion, Cayden Ramsey, Lainee Ramsey, Devan Ramsey, Olivia Champion, Blake Upton, Chole Upton, Aubree Ramsey and Quinn Garrett.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Roy Byers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
