Betty Lucille Harris Hicks, age 84, of Bostic, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Fair Haven Home of Forest City.
Born May 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Harris and Bessie Lee Mitchell Harris. Betty worked for Fieldcrest Mill and Burlington Industries for many years. She was a faithful member of Pleasant View Community Church. Betty loved cooking for her family and going to church. She was a dedicated Christian, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost sixty-two years, Arthur H. Hicks.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Linda Sims (Tommy) of Rutherfordton and Karen Hall (Rodger) of Bostic; son, Donald Hicks (Michelle) of Ellenboro; five sisters, Creola Jones (Casey) of Forest City, Helen LePage (Richard) of Lattimore, Pansey McCraw (Gary) of Ellenboro, Paulette Smith (Kirk) of Bostic, Deborah Crowe (Danny) of Ohio and a brother, Carl “Bud” Harris (Doris) of Forest City. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jamie Sims (Kara), Chris Sims (Shannon), Melissa Hamrick (Russell), Michelle Seagle (Manuel), Tracy Griffin (Dennis), Dereck Hall (Mila), Doug Stamper and Jordan Pierce; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Pleasant View Community Church with Pastor Danny McCain officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. At other times they will be gathered at 707 Kiser Road, Lot #29, Bostic.
