Bill Lancaster

Bill Lancaster, age 80, of Forest City, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Carolinas Continued Care Hospice in Kings Mountain.
Born May 27, 1935 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Crawford Lancaster and Mary McDaniel Lancaster. Bill worked for Fieldcrest Mill for many years and was the owner and operator of Lancaster's Rug Mill for several years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bill was a member of the original 1954 Forest City Owls baseball team and participated in Spring Training with the Kansas City Athletics in 1958.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Charles Lancaster and sister, Mozelle Street.
Survivors include his wife of thirty five years, Martha Shires Lancaster; one son, Stanley Lancaster of Forest City; two step-daughters, Amy Doggett and husband, Greg of Forest City and Connie Shytles and husband, Curt of Ellenboro; three sisters, Lorena Scruggs of Forest City, Hazel Moore of Forest City and Margaret Pettus of Longs, SC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michele Jolley (Trevor), Jennifer Patterson (Adam), Randy Martinez (Heather), Miguel Martinez (Hebe); three step-grandchildren, Charlie Bumgarner, Adam Doggett, Amanda Tesseneer; three great-grandchildren, Paxton, Caitlin and Brantley.
