Billy Lemons, age 76, of Ellenboro passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby.
Billy was born Thursday, March 15, 1945 in Cleveland County to the late Bill Lemons and Alice Boone Lemons. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Billy was a mechanic and owned and operated Lemons Garage in the Hopewell Community most of his life. He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and was an avid drag racing fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-years, Rose Lemons; brother, Buck Lemons and a sister, Katherine Lemons.
Left to cherish fond memories are his children, Linda Wood of Ellenboro, Terry Gettys of Morganton, Robert Buckner (Mary Bowen) of Ellenboro, Lena Buckner of Bostic and Donna Evans (Tim) of Ellenboro; sister, Pat Willis of Ellenboro; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church with Reverend Tim Evans and Reverend Tim Whiteside officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
