Bobby Dean Blanton, age 77, of Caroleen, died Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born February 2, 1938 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Grover Blanton and Hallie Fay Wallace Blanton. Bobby was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1956 and a veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He was a brick mason and carpenter for thirty-years and worked for Parker-Hannifin for seventeen years before retirement. Bobby attended Goodes Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed working in his woodshop, camping and doing yard work.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost fifty years, Iris Blanton; two sons, Rodney Blanton and wife, Bonnie and Shawn Blanton and wife, Jennifer all of Forest City and one sister, Peggy Ann Brown and husband, Harvey of Labrador, Canada. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Bethany Blanton Hasty and husband, Brian, Luke Blanton, Thomas Blanton and a number of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Chad Hayes and Reverend Dwayne Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow in Eternal Hills Memorial Park with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
