Bobby Dean Lowery, age 85, of Union Mills, NC, died Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Bobby was born May 5, 1933 in Rutherford County to the late Clyde Lowery and Flossie Henson Lowery. He worked in aircraft sales and was also a private jet pilot for many years. He owned and built a shrimp boat called the "Hardtimes" in which he and his wife used for shrimping in Port Aransas, Texas. He also co-owned and operated a hobby shop in Corpus Christi, Texas named "Planes and Things Hobby Shop" for several years. He was a model plane and model car enthusiast. Bobby was a member of Fairview Missionary Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Lowery.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn L. Lowery; three daughters, Renae Benham (Larry) of Holiday, Texas, Cheryl Endick of Union Mills and Deborah Spangler (Dean) of Shelby; one brother Gerald Lowery of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Shawn Lopez, Jason Escalante, Dylan Brown, Dena Spangler, Jill Parker and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dean Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
