Bobby D. Randall, age 82, of McSwain Road, Forest City, NC, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Hospice House.
Bobby was born May 3, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Grover Cleveland Randall and Kitty Morrow Randall. Bobby lived a full life beginning with farming as a young man and then serving as a US Army Ranger during the Korean War. He then began a 43 year career with Duke Energy as a Transmission Line Supervisor-Foreman. He was a volunteer fireman for the Sandy Mush Fire Department for over 25 years and a self-employed landscaper even in his retirement years. As a young man, he played baseball for the Rutherford County Farmers League and was instrumental in the construction of two regulation softball fields for the Sandy Run Softball Association. He played and coached softball for many years and was an avid scratch golfer. He was a longtime member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Patricia C. Randall; five brothers, Marion Randall, Richard Randall, George Randall, Walter Randall, Earl Randall and two sisters, Zennie Henson and Sue Randall.
Survivors include three sons, Don Randall of Forest City, Dan Randall and wife, Kimberly of Raleigh and Darren Randall also of Forest City. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Courtney Randall, Lexi Randall, Nathan Randall, Nicholas Childers and Jenna Childers.
