Brenda Guffey

Brenda Guffey, age 68, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Brenda was born Tuesday, October 6, 1953 in Rutherford County to Mary Lucille Lane who lives in Lincolnton and the late Horace Joseph Guffey, Sr. She worked for Fast Foods Industries for twenty-four years and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at White Oak Manor for several years. Brenda enjoyed playing bingo, working on jig saw puzzles and word find books. She was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, John Littlejohn III; granddaughter, Heather Leighann Baynard and brothers, Joe and Marion Guffey.

Besides her mother, those left to cherish fond memories are her two daughters, Diane Tate of Rutherfordton and Tammy Jarhalm (Terry) of Chicago, Illinois; son, David Baynard (Bobbie) of Cherokee County, SC; sisters, Linda Edwards of Ellenboro, Melinda Lucille Carpenter (Gerald) of Lincolnton and Alice Marlowe of Bessemer City, NC; brothers, Harold Guffey (Pam) of Forest City and Danny Lane (Anita) of Lincolnton. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, which includes Amber Tate and four great-grandchildren, which includes, Lane Hudson and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Brian Melton officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
