Brenda Kay Hoppes, age 64, of Bostic, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born July 15, 1953 in Kings Mountain, NC, she is the daughter of Laverne Padgett Laws who resides in Henrietta and the late Troy F. Laws. She worked for various industries in the county and most recently had worked for Deb's Mini Mart as a cook. Brenda was dedicated to her family and loved being a mom and a grandmother. She was the one that everyone could talk to and could get advice from. Brenda was also an Elvis fan and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one son, Carl "Dean" Hoppes and a daughter, Cindy Sue Wilson; one brother and four sisters.
Besides her mother, those left to cherish her memory include her husband of thirty-seven years, Johnny Hoppes; one son, Danny Hoppes and wife, Lisa of Spindale; two brothers, Ronnie Laws and wife, Melissa of McDowell County and Tony Laws of Ellenboro and a sister, Janice Dyer of Ruth. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Cynthia Jeffrey (Robert) and Justin Hoppes; three great-grandchildren, Isabella Jeffrey, Isaiah Jeffrey and Kayden Hoppes.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
