Broadus "Lee" Quinn, age 80, of Westmore Road, Caroleen, NC, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hospice House of Rutherford County, NC.
Lee was born April 13, 1933 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Claude Lee Quinn and Hassie Radford Quinn. He was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1951 and worked for Windy's Grill while attending school. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Cliffside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He also worked for Stonecutter Mills for forty years before his retirement and then enjoyed working as a contract driver for CSX Railroad, transporting train engineers. He loved to restore old cars, woodworking, home improvement projects, travelling to Pigeon Forge with his wife and eating good food.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Felix and Nancy (Robbins) Quinn and Tom and Mary Radford.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Vember Allred Quinn; one daughter, Christine Tessnear and husband, Terry of Alexis, NC; one grandson, Matthew Tessnear of Shelby, NC; one sister, Betty Upton; one brother, Howard "Buck" Quinn and wife, Gail all of Caroleen and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Cliffside Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Cantrell officiating and Matthew Tessnear giving the eulogy. Entombment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
