Bruce Cole

Bruce Cole, age 73, of Belmont, formerly of Forest City, passed away Monday, September 27, 2021 at Caramont Health-Gastonia.  Bruce was born Tuesday, January 13, 1948 in Rutherford County to the late Clarence Beecher Cole and Julia Scoggins Cole. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1966. Bruce worked as a circulation manager for the Daily Courier for several years and was over the sales and advertising department at the Rutherford Weekly for many years. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Spindale where he served as a deacon. Bruce enjoyed a part of the Band Boosters at East Rutherford High School and enjoyed going to band competitions and football games. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Phyliss Cole; daughter, Lacey Laws and husband, Tony Jr. of Belmont; brother, Ronald Wayne Cole (Benita) of Winston-Salem; granddaughter, Lydia Laws; stepmother, Jenny Cole of Rutherfordton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with Reverend Rick Wall officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery.
