Buddy Lee Dobbins, age 78, of Forest City, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at his residence.
Born March 7, 1936 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Odell Dobbins and Lois Kimbrell Dobbins. He was veteran of the US Navy and worked as a carpenter for E.S. Walker Construction for twenty-six years. Buddy was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a retired board member or the Sandy Mush Fire Department. He also was a member of the VFW Lodge #5204. Buddy enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was an honest and loving man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lottie Terry and four brothers, Walter, Johnny, Willie "Pete" and Monte Hugh Dobbins.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Virginia "Peanut" Bridges Dobbins; son, Michael Dobbins and wife, Beth of Forest City; three daughters, Tanya Lynn Humphries, Darlene Melton and husband, Bryan all of Forest City and Beth Roberson and husband, Dale of Ellenboro; special friends, Don and Paulette Holland of Forest City. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Laura Melton, Jeremy Melton, Justin Humphries, Jayne Humphries, Troy Dobbins, Miranda Roberson, Ethan Roberson, Kailee Melton, Kinslee Melton and Josh Williams.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Philbeck, Reverend Wayne Toney and Chaplain Bryan Melton officiating. Interment will follow at Cliffside Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
