Carl Pruett, Jr.

Carl Pruett, Jr., age 90, of Rutherfordton, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Henderson Care.  Carl was born Friday, January 9, 1931 in Rutherford County to the late Carmel Pruett and Mattie Hill Pruett. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Carl attained the rank of Master Sergeant and retired after twenty-two years of service. He then attended Isothermal Community College and earned certifications in plumbing, electrical and television repair. Carl also worked for American Greetings for several years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spindale and enjoyed watching old Sci-Fi shows and reading his Bible.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dot Bridges, Bobby Pruett, Lois Doggett, Charlie Pruett, Janice Brown, Billy Pruett and a son-in-law, Lars Petersen.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of seventy years, Lina Pruett; daughters, Doris Vroman (Gordon) of Vista, California and Carol Susan Petersen of Newton, New Jersey; brother, Ray Pruett of Forest City; four grandchildren, Lars Petersen, Susan Countryman, Anna Petersen (Ray Williams), Adam Vroman and great-grandchildren, Addison Petersen, Remi Vroman and Lexi Vroman. The family wishes to thank his niece, Patsy Pruett Ledbetter for her kindness and devotion in watching over Carl and Lina.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
