Carlena Kimbrell, age 64, of Farrar Drive, Forest City, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born July 25, 1950 in Clay County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Carl Jackson Gibson and Ruth V. Hyde Gibson. She worked for Cone Mills for twenty-two years before retiring and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, breeding AKC registered Boxers, quilting and working in her rose garden.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ira Paul Hogsed and two brothers, Ted Gibson and Bobby Joe Gibson.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-three years, James Edward Kimbrell, Jr.; two sons, David Lake Weaver of Florida and Danny Gordon Weaver and wife, Tonya of Forest City; step-son, Jason Edward Kimbrell of Virginia; three sisters, Janelle Gibson, Judy Gibson and Mary Allred and husband, Ricky all of Henrietta; one brother, Chris Blalock also of Henrietta. She is survived by six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Mike Cash and Reverend Tommy Carver officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. The body will lie-in-state from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
