Carolyn Clayton, age 77, of Chase High Road, Forest City, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Carolyn was born January 7, 1943 in Rutherford County to the late Lewis Clayton and Sarah Walker Clayton. Carolyn’s work career included DEB Manufacturing, the Rutherford County Clerk of Courts office, as an Accounts Payable Clerk for the Department of Corrections and a part-time instructor at Isothermal Community College. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and an avid reader. Carolyn enjoyed her leisure time during her retirement years and especially loved family gatherings.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Brayden Magana.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, James Holland (Christy) of Rockwell, NC and a daughter, Kathy Maness (Vick) of Forest City; two brothers, James Clayton of Forest City and Ditney Clayton (Dianne) of Sandy Mush and a special friend, Wendy Fowler of Mooresboro. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Steven Holland (Lindsay), Alisha Smith (Darren), Kyle Lancaster, Amber Carenno (Walmore), Kimberly Holland and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be conducted at the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Cathy Turman officiating.
