Carolyn Bumgardner Toms, age 70, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020.
Carolyn was born November 8, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late A.C. Bumgardner and Blanche Campbell Bumgardner. She was a graduate of R-S Central, class of 1966 and worked for Broyhill Industries for fifteen years. She also was a talented seamstress who owned the “For the Right Fit” Alteration shop for many years. Carolyn was a member of Concord Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, dancing, baking, fishing, cooking for her family and watching birds each morning while sitting on her porch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Joann Bridges, Betty Conner and a brother, Bobby Bumgardner.
Those left to cherish her memory include her life partner of forty years, James Earl Millard; two daughters, Sheila Toney (David) of Forest City and Tammy Carol Toms of Bostic; a son, Virgil Lee Toms, Jr. (Heather) of Forest City; two sisters, Brenda Toms of Rutherfordton and Donnis Toms (Larry Joe) of Forest City. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Samantha Burdett, Jessica Toney and Jacob Toms.
The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Travis Laflin officiating. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service.
