Catherine Blanton, age 76, of Forest City, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Mission Hospital-St. Joseph Campus in Asheville.
Born December 3, 1941 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William Robert Blanton and Vennie Bingham Blanton. She worked of United Southern Manufacturing for over twenty years and was a long time and dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Forest City. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cross stitch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, David Sanders, a daughter, Sue Butts and one sister, Martha Shelton.
Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Tammie Padgett and husband, Eddie of Calabash, NC, Lisa Keever and husband, Tracy of Bostic and Rebecca Sanders and life partner, Tammy Rector of Valdese, NC; two sons, Grady Sanders and wife, Tina of Saw Mills, NC and Sandy Sanders and wife, Wanda of Cliffside; five brothers, William Blanton, Cleo Blanton (Marceline) of Boiling Springs, NC, Horace Blanton of Shelby, Jimmy Blanton (Lyndyle) of Cliffside and Lawrence Blanton (Rhonda) of Cliffside; three sisters, Julie Dover (William) of Shelby, Sharon Walker (Larry) of Ellenboro and Heidi Smith (Butch) of Spartanburg. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Bishop Kendall O'Liphant officiating. Interment will follow in Cliffside Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
