Charles Ray Lovelace, age 73, of Webb Road, Ellenboro, died Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born November 6, 1944 in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Emmett Lovelace and Lela Whisnant Lovelace. He was a graduate of Charles D. Owen High School, class of 1963 and worked as an upholsterer for Drexel Manufacturing for thirty years and Maple Brook Upholstery for twenty years before retiring. He was a faithful member of Race Path Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a choir member. Charles' favorite pastime was painting portraits. He was dedicated to his family and to his faith in the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David William Lovelace.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty-eight years, Candy G. Lovelace; four daughters, Angie Batchler and husband, Douglas of Blacksburg, SC, Dana L. Gettys and husband, Stephen of Ellenboro, Melissa Brothers and husband, Bryant of Lawndale and Janet Holtsclaw and husband, Danny of Ellenboro; three sisters, Rachel Vardiman and husband, Ronnie of Asheville, Diane Frady and husband, Jerry of Shelby and Sarah Salmons also of Shelby. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stephanie Haynes (Scott), Kristen Whelchel (Brian), Katie Fitzgerald, Cody Lavender and Landon Holtsclaw; six great-grandchildren, Rush, Sawyer, Max, Liam, Abel and Logan.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Race Path Baptist Church with Reverend Randall Cooper and Reverend John Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
