Charles Taylor, Jr., age 85, of Union Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Charles was born August 31, 1928 in Spindale, NC to the late Charles Taylor, Sr. and Mallie Biggerstaff Taylor. He was a graduate of R-S Central High School, class of 1946 and a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. Charles worked for AutoZone for twenty-five years and a longtime member of Green Hill Baptist Church. He loved blue grass music and was a member of the Forney Mountain Boys Blue Grass Band. He also was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Randy Taylor and brother, Elmer Taylor.
Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-four years, Jeanette H. Taylor; son, David Russell and wife, Kim, and the love of his life, granddaughter, Paige Russell all of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Bill Hampton and wife, Helen of Rutherfordton; two sisters-in-law, Alice McDaniel of Rutherfordton and Ruby Clements of Forest City; special family members, Don and Alice Head of Forest City and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Green Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend John Baker officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery.
