Charles Thompson

Charles 'Chuck' W. Thompson, age 80, of W.V. Thompson Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Charles was born December 18, 1930 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late William Votus Thompson and Lizzie Ridings Thompson. He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. He worked for General Motors in Strongsville, Ohio for 30 years before his retirement and was a member of the Dependent Baptist Church of Inman. He was an avid NASCAR fan and especially loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Jones Thompson; one son, Ricky Thompson and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Thompson; one step-daughter, Julie Stockman of Rutherfordton; two step-sons, Terry Fowler and wife, Deana of Campobello, SC, Jerry Fowler and wife, Amy of Inman; two sons from his first marriage, David Thompson of Rutherfordton, Jerry Thompson and wife, Debbie of Medina, Ohio; a special grandson, Dakota Stockman; two sisters, Selena Duckert of Greenville, SC, Betty Cobb and husband, Jim of Rutherfordton; two brothers, Foy Thompson and wife, Joyce of Piedmont, SC, Billy Thompson and wife, Christine of Rutherfordton and a special sister-in-law, Ethel Thompson. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
