Clara Jean Hames, age 68, of 186 Morrow Drive, Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Hospice House.
Clara was born on September 12, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Thad Laws and Virginia Dotson Laws. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sharing her home cooked meals with all and one who especially loved her family. She was Pentecostal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 20 years, Gene Mode, Sr.; one brother, Jackie Norris Laws and one sister, Sybil Tate.
Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Doug Hames; one son, Gene Mode and wife, Sue, of Forest City; one daughter, Anita Fowler of Ellenboro; one brother, Kenneth Laws and wife, Chrystal, of Forest City; a half-brother, Larry Laws of Myrtle Beach, SC; a half-sister, Louise Barkley and husband, John, of Nebo, NC; two step-daughters, Yvonne Biggerstaff and husband, Mike, of Ellenboro and Patricia Arrowood and husband, Dink, of Forest City. She is also survived by four grandchildren, William Hudson, Elvis Hudson, Raymond Mode, Jonathan Mode and four great-grandchildren, Kensley Mode, Olivia Mode, Keagan Mode and Kole Mode.
