Clarence Silvers

Clarence Silvers, age 88, of Tryon Rd., Rutherfordton, NC, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Hospice House of Rutherford County, NC.
Clarence was born March 12, 1925 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Marve Silvers and Martha Jane Wheeler Silvers. He was a mechanic most of his life and worked for the State of New York as the Chief Mechanic for North East Region and was of the Baptist faith. He loved working on cars, going to the mountains, and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife of 29 years, Margaret Ann Rice Silvers; nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, David Silvers and wife, Rose of Union Mills, NC; Christopher Silvers of Rutherford County, and Bruce Silvers of Montana; one daughter, Kathy Baker of New York; one daughter-in-law, Karen Silvers of Polk County. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Cassie Silvers, Maggie Silvers and Ashley Silvers.
A viewing and receiving of friends will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services. A private graveside service will take place on a later date.
