Clark Edwards

Clark Edwards, age 74, of Forest City, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Clark was born Sunday, October 20, 1946 in Rutherford County to the late Dewey Dock Edwards and Annie Trout Edwards. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1964 and served as a MP in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Clark was the store manager of the A & P Grocery Store for thirty years. He then owned the distribution route for Murray Cookies for twelve years and was fondly known as the “Cookie Man” by many. Clark served as a funeral assistant at Harrelson Funeral Home where he enjoyed greeting people and working services. He retired after almost fourteen years of service at the funeral home. He was a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. Clark was a “people person” and always enjoyed a good conversation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene Edwards and sister, Shirley Edwards Holland.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-eight years, Sharon Scruggs Edwards; daughter, Casey Edwards Walker (Gene) of Ellenboro; three sons, Dwayne Edwards (Crystal) of Rock Hill, SC, Shane Spratt of Gastonia and Marc Spratt (Annie) of Waukesha, Wisconsin; two sisters, Joyce Hutchins of Forest City and Mary Wall (Howard) of Star, SC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Robert Edwards, Christian Warren, Jessie Warren, Jacob Edwards (Addy), Dylan Spratt, Ava Spratt and a great grandson, Jayce Spratt.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 pm at the funeral home prior to the service. The body will lie in state from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm on Monday.
