Claude Taylor Morris, Jr., age 62, of Shelby, NC, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born July 8, 1951 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Claude Taylor Morris and Gladys Hames Morris. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1968 and worked as a Supervisor for various manufacturing companies. Claude enjoyed playing the piano and was a pianist for several local churches and southern gospel groups. He also was an avid dirt track racing fan and loved gardening and yard work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Morris and Johnny Max Morris.
Survivors include son, Claude Taylor Morris III and wife, Gloria of Martinsville, VA; three daughters, Amanda Morris of Summerville, SC, Tessa Rae Morris of Charleston, SC and Stephanie Lynn Morris of Shelby; brother, Paul Keith Morris of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Claude Taylor Morris IV, Mikayla Morris, Christopher Carrington, Alexandra Carrington, McKenzie Carrington, Taylor Lippold and Wensdae Morris.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Carlton Hames officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
