Cova Whitaker Moore, age 94, of Ellenboro, died Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born August 28, 1923 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the John Bunyan Whitaker and Minnie "Gussie" McKinney Whitaker. She was a graduate of Cliffside High School and a longtime and faithful member of Race Path Baptist Church. Cova enjoyed yard work and gardening. She also enjoyed crocheting and also cooking for her family. Everyone enjoyed her famous fried apple pies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years, George Ernest Moore; two sons, George Ernest Moore, Jr. and Charles Ray Moore, Sr.; granddaughter, Lisa Moore Carpenter and grandson, George Terrence Moore; three sisters and two brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, William "Bill" E. Moore and wife, Trudi of Ellenboro; granddaughters, Melonie Burleson, Lorie Ross and Kim Cole (Kevin); grandsons, Michael Moore (Katina) and Ray Moore (Jane); great-granddaughters, Allie Ross, Mikayla Burleson, Jessica and Julia Moore; great-grandsons, Dillon Moore, Jay Moore, Alex Ross, Ethan Cole, Lucas Cole, Zachary Burleson, Jim and Jared Moore. She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Randall Cooper and Reverend Kevin Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
