Dave Kager Cox, Sr.

Dave Kager Cox, Sr., age 78, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his residence.

Dave was born Thursday, December 17, 1942 in Polk County to the late Will Blackwell and Nellie Mae Cox Stafford. He served honorably in the U.S. Army for twenty years before retirement. Dave was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and was of the Baptist faith. He worked for Parton Lumber for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Iris Cox; four brothers, Wilburn Stafford, Joe Stafford, Jerry Cox, Walt Jr. Cox and sisters, Mae Dale and Lillian Devore.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-eight years, Violet Brown Cox; sons, Terry David Cox of Wilkesboro, NC, Luke Kager Cox of North Wilkesboro, NC, Victor Allen Cox of Michigan and Dave Kager Cox, Jr. of Rutherfordton; daughter, Nellie Mae Cox of Taylorsville, NC; brothers, Leroy Cox of Forest City, Marvin Stafford of Forest City and Ray Stafford of Morganton. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and his pet dog, Cocoa.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Marvin Stafford residence, 125 Henson Road, Forest City, NC 28043.
