David Stanley Ballard, age 84, of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at his residence.
Born June 18, 1933 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Henry Ballard and Nettie Martin Ballard. He worked as a security officer for Cone Mills-Cliffside Plant and Avondale Plant for a combined 35 years. David was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Rutherfordton. He enjoyed doing yard work and working on his "Blue" Truck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Earl and Eugene Ballard.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-eight years, Peggy Green Ballard; one daughter, Stephany Alexander of Forest City; three sisters, Louise Burleson and Gwendolyn Ledford both of Forest City and Frances Scarlata of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Chris Ballard (Jessica) of Bostic and Kali Sisk (Greg) of Forest City; two great-grandchildren, Erica Bailey and Chloe Sisk and two special nephews David Hardin of Lacombe, Louisiana and Freddie Laws of Sandy Mush.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Terry White officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the family residence.
