David Robert Byars, age 82, of Ferry Road, Mooresboro, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at his residence.
Born August 18, 1935 in Cleveland County, he was a son to the late John A. Byars and Allie Mae Campbell Byars. David was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church of Ellenboro. He worked in textiles for many years, most recently for John H. Montgomery for twenty years until retirement. David was very active in coaching local youth baseball teams and was an avid outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Dodson Byars; two sisters, Gladys Liverette, Ruby Jean Bridges and one brother, Johnny Oscar Byars.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-three years, Barbara Byars; three daughters, Deborah Ware and husband, Ricky of Mooresboro, Peggy Bailey and husband, Tim and Polly Watson and husband, Calvin all of Rutherfordton; one son, Jimmy Byars also of Mooresboro; three sisters, Mary Ann Causby, Louise Wilson (Perry), Martha Byars and Sandra Bailey (Wayne); two brothers, Donald Byars (Debbie) and Michael Byars (Debbie); one brother-in-law, Howard Bridges. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Candace Crompton (Jonathan), Amanda Heusinkveld (Jeff), David Ware (Kim), Miranda Watson, Megan Rollins (Christopher), and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Victory Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny McCarty and Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
