David Ponder, age 62, of Bostic, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Born February 2, 1955 in Goldsboro, NC, he was a son to the late Ray Junior Ponder and Blanche Cureton Ponder. He worked for Cone Mills for twenty years and enjoyed cutting grass, doing yard work, watching John Wayne movies and the news. David attended Trinity Wesleyan Church of Forest City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Dawn Ponder and one brother, Robert Marshall Ponder, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of twenty-four years, Jenis Ponder; sister, Barbara Conner and husband, Gene of Lake Lure; brother, Billy Ray Ponder and wife, Chris of Rutherfordton; two daughters, Elizabeth Smith of Forest City and Robyn Ponder of Bostic; two sons, Ray Ponder of Ellenboro and Eric Ponder of Maryland; sister-in-law, Peggy Ponder of Bostic. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Samantha Gonzales, Tony Smith and Hayden Ponder.
A gathering of family and friends will be held starting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 469 E. High Road, Bostic, NC.
