Detroy “Troy” Briscoe Dalton, Jr., age 79, of Forest City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Charles George VA Hospital in Asheville. Troy was born April 29, 1943 in Caroleen to the late Detroy Briscoe Dalton, Sr. and Jewel Odom Dalton Pinson. Troy was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1962. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 and served his country honorably the following year in Vietnam. Troy worked in textiles many years before opening Dalton’s Used Cars. He loved anything and everything to do with cars, especially older models.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dennis Keith and grandparents, Jesse and Willie Odom and Will and Minnie Dalton.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; son, Jeff (Angie) of Forest City; grandsons, Alex of High Point, NC, Noah of Raleigh, NC and step-granddaughter, Emma Welborn of High Point, NC. Also surviving are his brothers, Davie (Jan) of Concord, NC, Andy of Raleigh, NC and sister, Kim of Hickory, NC along with a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 26th at Smith Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Terry White officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
