Don Colley, age 71, of Forest City, died Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at his residence.
Don was born March 28, 1948 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late Ernest Webb Colley and Hannah Belle Hollifield Colley. He worked fourteen years as a heavy equipment operator for Cox and Floyd Grading in Woodruff, SC. He was a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church and was a former member of Victory Baptist Church of Spindale. He also attended Alexander United Methodist Church. Don enjoyed singing, fishing and watching NASCAR. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, six sisters and five grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of twenty-two years, Gail Toms Colley; six daughters, Deborah Whitesides (Benjamin) of Woodruff, Terry Hutchins (Kevin) of Columbia, SC, Angie Anderson (Kevin) of Chesnee, Pam Baker of Taylors, SC, Sherry Harper (Kenneth) of Forest City and Crystal Tate (Daniel) of Forest City; two sons, James Tate (Lou) of Sandy Mush and Joseph Tate (Christi) of Inman; two sisters, Lois Jolley (Albert) and Genell Lewis (Gary) all of Spartanburg. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Nick King and Reverend John Greene officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
