Don Geraghty

Don Geraghty, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Don was born August 22, 1941 in Yonkers, New York to the late John Joseph Geraghty and Ethel Susan Minovich Geraghty. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was of the Catholic faith. Don worked as a millwright for General Motors for thirty years before retirement. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, gardening, woodworking and was an avid hunter. Don fulfilled his patriotic spirit by being an active member of the local DAV chapter and proudly serving on the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Carrie Geraghty and a brother, Jack Geraghty.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty-one years, Bertha Geraghty; three daughters, Debbie Ouellette (Dan) of Lisbon, Maine, Kimberly Wilke (Chris) of Urbandale, Iowa and Karen Marsh (Russell) of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Michael Keon (Julie) of West Park, New York. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Erica Koch, Shannon Wilke, Veda Keon, Ethan Wilke, Violet Marsh, Esme Keon and a great-grandchild, John Koch.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Deacon Andy Cilone officiating and military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. There will be a reception in Don's honor at the family residence; 124 Big Cedar Drive, Rutherfordton, immediately following the service.
