Donald Epley

Donald Epley, age 81, of Forest City, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.   Donald was born Sunday, June 16, 1940 in Rutherford County to the late Barziel Epley and Pantha Hill Epley. He worked for Spindale Mill/New Cherokee Mill for many years and then for the Rutherfordton Maintenance Department before retirement. Donald was known for his ability to fix almost anything. He was instrumental in maintaining the Rutherford County Courthouse for many years. Donald was master of many trades from carpentry to auto mechanics and used his skills to be a blessing to many. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where he served as the sound technician. Donald also enjoyed dove hunting and fishing. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of almost sixty-three years, Wilma Epley; two daughters, Linda Epley Guzman (Joseph) of Forest City and Tina Epley James (Mac) of Cliffside; three grandchildren, Don Guzman (Stefanie), Demmie Guzman (David Abramyczyk), Tyler James (Alex) and great-grandchildren, C.J. Johnson, Austin, Alex and Adam Hutchins.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
