Donald G. Jenkins, age 87, of Ellenboro, NC, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Donald was born May 8, 1931 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Thomas Graham Jenkins and Annie Louise Matheny. He was a graduate of Tri-High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a dairy farmer and cattle rancher most of his life. He co-owned and operated the Jenkins & Jenkins Dairy for many years. Donald was also a supervisor at the J.C. Cowan Mill. Donald loved his family dearly and enjoyed having conversations with others. He never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Julia Ann Francis Jenkins.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Donette J. Ledford (Craig) of Six Points and Lee Ann Randall (Barry) of Memphis, Tennessee; two sons, Robbie Jenkins (Penny) of Rutherfordton and Bobby Jenkins (Dawn) of Charlottesville, Virginia. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Chad W. Ledford, Noah Randall, Lindsey Randall, Samuel Jenkins (Emily), Joshua Jenkins, Victoria Jenkins, Gage Jenkins, Amber Jenkins, Tori Jenkins, Jacob Jenkins and a great-grandson, Ezekiel Jenkins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Race Path Baptist Church with Reverend John Godfrey and Reverend Randall Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the church before the service.
