Donald Smith

Donald R. Smith, age 74, of Bostic, NC died Monday, April 22, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.
Donald was born July 28, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Roy Smith and Alma Honeycutt Smith. He worked as a self-employed painting contractor for many years and enjoyed farming and raising hogs. Gardening, canning and fishing were some of his favorite pastimes. Donald was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and a great-grandson, Timothy Clayton Hamrick.
Those left to cherish his memory include his life-mate, Edna Mae Yelton;
four daughters, Lora Smith Cole (Brian) of Rutherfordton, Lisa Smith Koone of Forest City, Doris Marie Smith of Florida and Donelle Smith of Winston-Salem, NC and one son, Donald Alvin Smith of Guilford, Vermont. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Harrelson Funeral Home.
