Doreen Carver Hollifield

Doreen Carver Hollifield, age 88, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Doreen was born Wednesday, July 3, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Ralph Edward Carver and Arcenia Byers Carver. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1953 and a longtime member of Caroleen United Methodist Church. She served as an Adult Women’s and Children’s Sunday School teacher. Doreen worked as a teller/loan processor for the First Federal Savings and Loan and BB&T bank. She later worked for Hamrick, Bowen, Nanney and Dalton Law office. Doreen enjoyed reading, cooking and especially loved taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost seventy years, Jerry Hollifield; daughter, Lynne Hollifield and siblings, Jack Price, Eual Price and Mary Alice Gaither.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Bill Hollifield (Kay) of Rutherfordton; grandchildren, Kate Sand (Rob), Isaac Weiner (Danny), Matt Hollifield (Jessica), Kaylee Keever (Charlie), and great-grandchildren R.P. Sand, Riley Hollifield, J.R. Hollifield, McKinley Keever and Ellie Keever.

The funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 5^th at the Caroleen United Methodist Church with Reverend Roy T. Byers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time in the church fellowship hall.
