Doris Tate

Doris 'Jo' Tate, age 79, of New Bethel Church Road, Forest City, NC, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
Jo was born on January 20, 1933 in Mecklenburg County, NC to the late Earl Torrance Griggs and Stella Thornal Griggs. She worked as an LPN for many years, having worked for Dr. L.P. Mitchell for 18 years, Rutherford Hospital and for the NC Department of Corrections as a nurse. She was a master decorative painter and was a volunteer art teacher at the Senior Citizens Center. She was also a wonderful cook and a member of Southern Baptist Church for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by one son, David Tate and one brother, Charles Griggs.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Doyle Tate; two sons, Mike Felts and wife, Annette of Brookfield, Massachusetts, Robert Tate and wife, Robbie of Boiling Springs, SC; one daughter, Becky T. Helms and husband, Nolan of Charlotte. She is also survived seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
